PEG delivers Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) asset-based financing to consumers who lack both access to reliable electricity and formal banking services. PEG’s anchor product - a basic solar home system that includes six lights, a phone charger, a radio, and a TV - allows consumers living on $5-10 per day to access clean light for working and studying after hours, avoid harmful air pollution from kerosene based lighting solutions, and also build credit for additional products and services over time.

To date, PEG has raised nearly $50 million and has over 450 full time staff across Ghana, Ivory Coast and Senegal. PEG has also won numerous awards, including the prestigious 2017 Ashden International Award for excellence in sustainable energy, and was named as one of the “fastest growing companies in Africa” by the London Stock Exchange.

About the role

We’re in a new country and rapidly scaling our team and operations. We have systems to set up, reams of data to analyze, new products to introduce and a whole country to expand to. 

Your role would be to support the development of our latest business line, solar generator sets. In this role you’d report directly to the Sales Strategy and Power Manager and will have close working relationship with the Country Director (linkedin). You would work with senior management across the business and external parties to deliver a power market study.


This would involve:

  • Assessing the market potential for such a new product, and tailoring the product as necessary to local market conditions. 

  • Leading competitor analysis.

  • Working with supplier to define the product range

  • Defining a pricing and implementation strategy. 

  • Run a pilot launch

  • Being based out of Dakar with regular field visit. 

  • Expect to Lead projects with maximal autonomy and minimal oversight.



  • Fluency in French (English is a plus). 

  • Excellent excel and analytical skills. 

  • Self-starter who is willing to roll up their sleeves in a chaotic start-up environment. 

  • Structured and organised (as you’ll be directing teams/projects).

  • Having done courses and case study on Market Studies, on putting together a Business Plan and on basic Financial Analysis.

  • Driving and initiating projects to improve business decisions and visibility.

  • Available for a period of at least 5 months (February through June 2020)
